Landscaping & Steel Edging – Spring Hill Nursery

Spring Hill Nursery is renowned for its beautiful display gardens, but one area beneath mature gum trees had become difficult to establish with traditional lawn and plantings. The owners wanted to transform the space into a Mediterranean-inspired garden showcasing hardy, drought-tolerant plants, while also blending a new shed naturally into the surrounding landscape.

Working closely with the owners who were clear with their vision, we developed a design that combined practical earthworks with quality landscaping features. Steel edging was installed to define the garden beds, the site was carefully reshaped, and the new garden was seamlessly integrated with the existing nursery.

Standout features of the project are the curved vertical sleeper retaining wall, the matching curved 200mm steel edging and the timber sleeper staircase leading to the shed, adding character while improving functionality. In keeping with the owners’ values, we sourced materials from local businesses wherever possible, supporting the local community while delivering a landscape that complements the nursery’s established gardens. The owners encourage customers to take their time walking through the various garden rooms.

Driveway Reconstruction – Little Hampton

The owners wanted to replace their existing blue metal driveway with premium Mt William toppings to create a more attractive entrance that complemented their property. To further enhance the finished result, they chose to install steel edging, giving the driveway clean, defined lines while allowing the surrounding garden beds to be raised for future landscaping.

The project was made even better by the recent reopening of the Lancefield quarry, allowing us to source the Mt William toppings locally at excellent value. The completed driveway not only provides reliable all-weather access but also creates a striking first impression that will continue to improve as the surrounding gardens become established.

Blackberry & Weed Control

Blackberries and invasive weeds can quickly overtake a property, reducing access, smothering native vegetation and making ongoing maintenance almost impossible. Using specialised equipment including our excavator grab, heavy-duty rake and commercial spraying equipment, we help landowners regain control of their property. We also provide practical advice and support to help customers continue their long-term weed management program.

Retaining Wall Construction – Trentham

Retaining walls do much more than support soil on sloping ground—they create functional outdoor spaces that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Every project is different, so we work closely with our customers to understand their vision and recommend solutions that suit both their property and their budget. For this project, the customer wanted materials that would complement the existing building. After exploring several options together, we developed a design that achieved exactly that.

With the addition of carefully planned earthworks and steel edging, the finished project created a practical and attractive foundation, giving the customer the perfect blank canvas for future landscaping, planting and pathways.

At Trentham Land Services, we use laser levelling where required to maintain accurate depths and grades, particularly for drainage installations where correct fall is critical. Trenches are excavated with care, backfilled using suitable materials and compacted in layers to reduce future settlement and leave the site ready for the next stage of construction or landscaping.

Outdoor Staircase – Trentham

ACCESS • SLEEPER CONSTRUCTION • STEEL EDGING

Outdoor staircases can transform steep or difficult areas into safe, practical access points while also becoming an attractive feature of the landscape. Each project is carefully planned to suit the slope, surrounding structures and intended use, with attention given to stable foundations, comfortable step heights and effective drainage.

For this project, the customer had a short steep run from the house to the dam wall. After running through various options we proposed a bespoke ‘floating’ sleeper staircase with hidden foundations and a steel edged compacted rock top landing. The site was excavated and prepared before the staircase was solidly constructed and integrated into the surrounding landscape. The result is a unique feature staircase that is a pleasure to walk on. The customers are looking forward to working on the project with more hand sculpting of the surrounding slope with tasteful plantings in the near future. We look forward to seeing the finished product!
